Here you can find the legacy software update and image links for download. This article provides important instructions on how to update your software. 

REMEMBER: ALWAYS AFTER INSTALLING AN UPDATE, YOU NEED TO POWER ON THE MOTORS SO THE FULL UPDATE IS COMPLETED BEFORE GOING TO THE NEXT SOFTWARE UPDATE IF INCREMENTALLY DOING SO. SKIPPING THIS STEP CAN HAVE INFLUENCE ON THE FINAL SOFTWARE UPDATE COMPLETION.

If you are in doubt about any UR+ product compatibility, please get in touch with your UR+ provider for reference.

For e-Series robots:

Instructions below for e-Series are only applicable if your robot is running PolyScope 5.4.3 and below. If your robot is already running PolyScope 5.5 and above, please proceed directly to the Download section, and retrieve the latest PolyScope release for download and update of your robot.

For e-Series robots running PolyScope 5.4.3 and below, it must be first incrementally updated to PolyScope 5.5.1*, then after installing Polyscope 5.5.1 you can update directly to our Latest Software Release. Don't forget to turn motors on after every Software update completion so you can update to the next version.

*POWER MOTORS ON AFTER EACH UPDATE

Please consult below update path table based on your software version for e-Series:

• If your software version is one of the yellow sections, you need to install incrementally until 5.5.
• If your software version is one of the blue sections, you can update direct to any green version.
• If your software version is one of the green sections, you can update direct to any green version.

For CB-Series robots:

For CB-Series robots, the update still needs to be done incrementally in all cases. The first step is to check your PolyScope version, and from there, upgrade to the next available version until you go to the latest Polyscope software version.

It is always recommended to keep the robot software at the latest version.

NOTE: Downgrading software is not supported. Installing old URUP-files or Image-files on newer robots CAN cause failure to boot, another unexpected error or changes to your robot program. Universal Robots assumes no responsibility for wrong application of update files.

NOTE: Each robot arm has custom data. This is not included in this image file. Make sure you have a previous backup of your robot.

e-Series: controller type is e-Series with SD card. UR3e, UR5e, UR10e, UR16e
CB3.1: controller type is CB3 with USB stick. UR3, UR5 and UR10
CB3.0: controller type is CB3 with flash card. UR5 and UR10
CB2.1: controller type is CB2 with USB stick. UR5 and UR10
CB2: controller type is CB2 with flash card. UR5 and UR10

Install the software

Note: The installation script will impact certain packages on your host system. Before proceeding with the installation using the script, make sure you are aware of the possible implications for packages already installed on your host system. Detailed information can be found here.

First download the software provided here and save it to your home folder. Change to your home folder and extract the file to the root of your home folder:

cd ~
tar xvzf [FILE NAME]
cd ursim-X.X.X.XXXXX
./install.sh

Now you can simply run the software from the terminal by running:

cd ..
ursim-X.X.X.XXXXX/start-ursim.sh

Or, if your prefer, use the short-cuts created on your desktop.
