Subject: PRODUCT NOTICE Universal Robots e-Series software 5.4.3 update
Robots can be programmed for a wide range of motion, speeds, accelerations and poses. This is inherent in robots. Universal Robots strives to provide a product that is highly variable for the multitude of uses. Based on rigorous internal testing as a part of our continuous product improvement efforts, we have found that use of our robot in some unusual and extreme motions while in very specific poses can cause premature joint wear.
In our efforts to improve our customers’ experiences, Universal Robots strongly urges our customers of the UR10e robot to immediately update their e‑Series software to be at least version 5.4.3 to prevent these unusual and extreme motions in very specific pose scenarios.
Why?
Version 5.4.3 and future higher versions will not allow the identified scenarios that could result in premature wear. The consequence of premature wear could be a complete joint failure.
This premature wear scenario would also affect warranty because such use at extremes of specifications is outside our stated intended use.
Programming that results in unusual, extreme motions in very specific poses can cause premature wear of joint(s) which can result in complete joint failure. This failure could happen when a person is close to the robot and thereby expose the person to contact due to the joint failure. |
|
Universal Robots strongly recommends that its customers of the UR10e robot immediately update their e‑Series software to be at least version 5.4.3 as this will lessen the possibility of programming the identified scenarios that could cause premature joint wear. |
