Upgrading From a Polyscope 5 Controller to a Polyscope X Controller
Below are instructions on how to safely transition your robot from a PolyScope 5 to PolyScope X controller.
Date: November 15th, 2024.
Product(s) Affected: e-Series and UR20/UR30
On the existing controller in Power Off State (CB5.5 or earlier)
1. Unplug the power cable.
2. Disconnect the robot cable from the controller.
3. Disconnect teach pendant from controller.
4. Disconnect I/O terminal blocks, ethernet and USB connections (if
applicable).
On the Polyscope X controller in Power Off State (CB5.6)
1. Connect the teach pendant.
2. Connect I/O terminal blocks, ethernet and USB connections (if
applicable).
3. Connect the robot cable to the controller.
4. Plug in the power cable.
NOTE:
The first boot can take up to 20 minutes while the system is unpacking and
setting up. Please do not power off during this time, even if it looks like
nothing is happening.
The SD card from the older controller cannot be reused on the new
controller. It is also not possible to copy the contents from the old SD card
to the new SD card, expecting programs and settings to migrate to Polyscope
X.
There is no direct software migration from Polyscope 5 to Polyscope X
currently. All settings and programs will need to be redefined.
URCaps are also not reusable. UR+ partners are currently working to release
caps for the Polyscope X platform.
