UR cobots simplify production process and increase product quality

RONET SP. Has set up a fully automated production line based on a UR robot. The system combines picking and placing tasks with quality control, providing a complete, end-to-end solution that requires no human interaction.

With over 1000 different types of springs produced each year, Ronet was looking for a way to simplify the production process while increasing the overall quality of the product. The high quality standard was essential, as roughly 15 percent of the production output is exported. Returns on this product would not only damage the brand, it would be costly and time consuming. The robot also had to be able to work in close quarters with the current employees – preferably with little or no safety guarding.

Fully automated production line

Ronet chose to work with Pol-Sver, the Polish UR distributor, to create a fully automated production line based on the UR5. The UR5 robot has payload capacity of 5 kg and an operating range of 850 mm. Thanks to its mobility and small dimensions it can also be used at other workstations in the production facility. The robot’s programming is very intuitive; an important criteria for the finished solution.

“For us intuitive operation and ease of programming were very important. The robot’s movement trajectory may be defined not only by using the control panel, but also by manually guiding the robot to the required position”. Ronet’s future plans call for even more robots, including construction of a fully automated manufacturing facility.
