PROFIsafe is an open-standard, industrial ethernet communications protocol. PROFIsafe adds an additional layer to PROFInet to allow functional safety communications over a single ethernet cable. PROFIsafe for e-Series eliminates the need for a bridging PLC or additional I/O modules, creating a cost savings, and simplification of wiring and programming across the entire workcell.

PROFIsafe communications are fully integrated into Universal Robots software. Setup is simple and fast – connect an ethernet cable from the robot control box to a safety PLC or other PROFIsafe controller and set the addresses in the PolyScope Installation menu. Remaining configuration is done directly in your PLC software.
